NCAAU Boys' Basketball Home School Grade Exception Policy
If a home school athlete wishes to participate in AAU Boys' Basketball under the grade exception rule, the following applies determining his eligibility:
- If the athletes home school is registered as a home school with the N.C. Department of Registration, the parent designates as the school administrator may determine the grade of the athlete, and sign the grade of the athlete, and sign the grade exception form.
- If the home school student has participated in AAU Boys' Basketball in previous years and declared his grade on the association tournament registration roster, he shall be considered to have made regular advancement in his grade each year. And, therefore, not eligible under the grade exception rule, unless;
- He has enrolled in a secondary school which has declared his grade, or
- The Home School administrator submits evidence of an approved standardized test score showing that the Student performed below grade level, or
- The Home School Administrator submits in writing to the Basketball Chairman, other evidence which in the sole discretion of the Chairman, bring the athlete under the grade eligibility exception.
The decision of the Basketball Chairman is final.
